Welcome to 181 Days! This blog is my diary for the next 6 months as I do something new every day for the 181 days. I love to write and I love learning and experiencing new things, so (being the smart one that I am) I decided to put the two together and ta-da!!  This blog is the product of that.  There are so many things I kept saying I wanted to do and would do, but for any number of reasons, I just didn’t do them.  So I put together a list of things I have never done and decided that now is as good a time as ever.

First, a little bit about myself. I am a recent Penn State graduate and currently unemployed. (This job status might have it’s downfalls, but for the moment, I can’t help but be grateful for the extra time to devote to this project I’ve taken on.) I come from a big family and I love them and spend a lot of time with them!  I enjoy being outdoors and being active, but I’m also a girly-girl, can be high-maintenance and love to shop. I am a Jesus-loving Christian and try to live my life to bring glory to God the Father. I could go on and on about me, but I’m sure you’ll figure it all out soon enough.

Now, to help you understand better what exactly I intend to do for and with this blog. Here’s how it works:

Every day I have to try something new. This can mean do a new activity (i.e. sing public karaoke), go somewhere of note I’ve never been (Statue of Liberty), experience something I’ve never experienced (Catholic mass), or learn something new (cross country skiing). When learning something new, because you can always be learning more, I will set a goal that I have to reach. For instance, if I am learning the violin, I might have to be able to play a particular song by the time I’m done. If I’m learning to knit, it might be to make a pot holder. You get the idea. Then each day, after completing the new thing, I will write about my experience and document it with a picture(s). My hope is to have fun, learn more about myself, and learn more about what the world has to offer.

Lastly, I hope you will partake in these activities with me.  Join me in exploring the unknown and share your adventures. Not many bloggers can say this, but I’m serious when I say that this blog is as new for me as it is for you and I have no idea what to expect. I think that is something I love about it. I hope you enjoy it and learn something new every day.

How about you try trumpet? Come out here and I will give you lessons.

  2. Fantastic idea! I wish you the best of times over the remainder of your daily experimentations. I look forward to reading a bit more on these and getting inspiration for things to try myself…
